As known, fire types are classified as A, B, and C. The extinguishing capabilities of used materials vary according to these classifications. Dry chemical powder extinguishers are particularly enhanced with additives known for their fluidity, water resistance, and protective properties. ABC dry chemical powders achieve excellent results in fires with normal or slightly low temperatures where excessive heat is not present. Therefore, in fire types involving extreme heat, these extinguishers are used as supplementary systems rather than standalone solutions. Suitable for both automatic and manual extinguishing systems, dry chemical powder extinguishers deliver positive results when used alone for fires within their capacity range. Their most important feature is the smothering effect. The ammonium phosphate in their composition forms a glass-like layer over flames, cutting off oxygen contact and thus helping to control the fire.
